About Me

Hello! I’m Amanda, a licensed clinical social worker in San Francisco, California.

My work often deals with trauma experienced in a variety of contexts – in families and relationships, in communities and larger societal systems, from chronic illnesses and navigating medical systems, and intergenerational processes.

I believe in forming a partnership with my clients to support you in recognizing your strengths, advocating for yourself in all aspects of life, and determining goals for your life in order to reach them. Your spiritual beliefs, physical health, support systems (family and chosen family), and work environment are all relevant to your wellbeing.

My clients have often described me as nonjudgmental, funny, and expressive – I talk with my hands and facial expressions a lot. Sometimes I will cheerlead, sometimes I will gently offer guidance, sometimes I will say ‘nope, you can do better’.

In my own life, I have utilized community supports and traditional and holistic healing practices to address terminal illness and manage disability. This informs my understanding of mindfulness practices and self-healing. And you too deserve to recognize your innate resiliency!

Please bring strange things.

Please come bringing new things.

Let very old things come into your hands.

Let what you do not know come into your eyes.

Let desert sand harden your feet.

Let the arch of your feet be the mountains.

Let the paths of your fingertips be your maps

And the ways you go be the lines of your palms.

Let there be deep snow in your inbreathing

And your outbreath be the shining of ice.

May your mouth contain the shapes of strange words.

May you smell food cooking you have not eaten.

May the spring of a foreign river be your navel.

May your soul be at home where there are no houses.

Walk carefully, well-loved one,

Walk mindfully, well-loved one,

Walk fearlessly, well-loved one.

Return with us, return to us,

Be always coming home.
